Swim Lessons for Teens:

Teen Swim Lessons  (minimum age 13)
Lessons designated for teens only. This class will work on beginning skills and progress as the participants are ready. A great way to become more confident and have fun at the same time.
No swimming ability necessary.

Fees: YMCA members – $22.50, non-members – $45.00
 
Private Swim Lessons
Private lessons are available for all ages. Classes are scheduled by appointment only with limited times available. For more information, contact the aquatics department at 428-YMCA.
One 30 minute private lesson:
YMCA members – $18.00 private, $15.00 semi-private
      non-members – $36.00 private, $30.00 semi-private

Swim Lessons for Adults:

T.O.W (Terrified of Water)
Designed for adults who want to become more confident and comfortable in the water. Skill work includes overcoming fear of the water, kicking, floating, treading, and an introduction to the front and back crawl strokes. No swimming ability necessary.

Beginner
Designed for those who want to improve their strokes and swim for fitness. Swimmers will have the opportunity to work on strokes and skills of their choice.

Other Aquatic Programs:

Diving Lessons  (ages 7-14)
This program is for individuals who would like to learn the fundamentals or improve their skills. Participants must be able to tread water and swim 1 length of the pool.

Family Aqua Fit  (ages 12+)   – New
Strengthen your body and your family – join us with the teen in your life!  This class will strengthen, tone, and give you a great cardio workout utilizing the Speedo Aqua Steps and resistance equipment. It's great aquatic fun!  (Teen not required to join class.)

YMCA Dolphins Swim Team  (ages 6-18)
Discover the friendship, excitement and self-confidence that comes with competitive swimming. All swimmers between the ages of 6 and 18 are welcome to join this growing team. Participants must be able to swim one length freestyle (front crawl) and one length back crawl. Aquatics Director Emily Nannfeldt or Program Director Karen Richardville will be happy to answer any questions you may have; to speak to Emily or Karen, call the Y at 428-9622. The Dolphins Swim Team is for
YMCA members only. Summer session runs May 12th to August 22nd.

Aqua Anytime
   New
Attend water fitness classes any day of the week for just one small fee! Give yourself – and your water workout –- the flexibility you need. Ask for details at the Member Service Desk (428-9622). Aqua Anytime does not include Bend & Flex and Twinges-in-the-Hinges classes.

Shallow End Aerobics
 
   New
This co-ed water exercise class is fun and invigorating while gentle on the joints. Participants will increase aerobic-endurance, improve flexibility, and tone the body without wear and tear. Speedo Aqua Steps are used in this class!  Swimming skills are not required.

Evening Aqua Fitness     New
This class uses both shallow and deep ends of the pool to give you a total body workout. Increase your strength and get your heart pumping! Speedo Aqua Steps are used in this class. Buoyancy belts are available for the non-swimmer.

Bend & Flex 
Have you had physical therapy and want to continue to improve? Then this is the class for you! Increase flexibility, improve cardiovascular endurance, and increase muscular strength without placing stress your lower extremity joints. This class is for all activity levels!  Held in the pool.

Deep Water Fitness 

Deep water exercise is fun way to get a great cardio / muscular workout – you'll also benefit from increased flexibility and stronger core muscles! This no-impact workout reduces the risk of injury, making it ideal for those recovering from injury or surgery. Some swimming skills are required; however, buoyancy belts are available. Held in the deep end.

Hydrocize
 

Strength, flexibility, and balance will all be improved through this non-impact, light cardio, total body workout. Class will be held in both the shallow and deep end. Resistance equipment will be used. Buoyancy belts are available for the non-swimmer.

Twinges In The Hinges
 
Would you like to exercise but have trouble moving with stiff joints from arthritis or a physical injury? This class is designed for you!  With specialized exercises to alleviate discomfort by using the buoyancy of the water, you will improve strength, flexibility, and muscle tone while minimizing stress on the joints. No swimming ability is necessary.

Tuesday, Thursday   9:00-9:45 am
Fees: YMCA members $2.00/class, non-members $4.00/class

Open Pool Activities:

Water Walking
Strengthen, tone, increase flexibility, and improve your cardiovascular conditioning without adding undo stress to your body. Water walking is a great alternative for those recovering from a running injury, as well as way to add variety to your workout. Floatation devices are available in the pool. Lap Swim
Lap swimmers are required to be a minimum of 14 years old except when special permission is given by the YMCA Aquatics Director. Click here to check the pool schedule for lap swim times.

Open Swim

During Open Swim, children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult

Family Swim

During Family Swim, children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult in the water, with a maximum of four children with one adult. Click here to check the pool schedule for family swim times.

Family Float Night
Bring your blow-up fun floats (inflatables) to Family Float Night! Parents must accompany children in the water, with a maximum of four children with one adult. Floats will be allowed in the pool on Family Float Nights only.

During Open and Family Swims, all swimmers are required to take a swim test prior to entering the deep end.
